About - Yoshi's Woolly World is an old 3DS game that I played all throughout my childhood and I have chosen it as my very first event to hold! The game is based on the famous Mario character Yoshi embarking on his own adventure to save his small town with the help of his sweet dog. They are all made out of wool and use the yarn to help them overcome things in their way, you can draw and make up your own Yoshi! This event is made to be colorful so let it all out! nothing is too "childish" in this event! “Regulus?” Asked an airy voice. He looked up and sighed in relief.

“Hey, Pans.”

The next thing he knew, he was pulled up from his seat and hugged tightly. Pandora clung to him. Regulus heard her sniffle in his ear. He pulled back and smiled at her. It may have been over two years since he saw her, but she looked much the same; Her hair in locs and charmed to be white; Her eyes sparkling with a strange knowledge and mischief. She wore a long olive green skirt and a wool jumper, mostly buttoned up and long enough to cover her hips. The clothes disguised much of the form of her body, but she seemed warm and comfortable.

Pandora’s eyes roamed Regulus’ face. She cupped his head and moved it left and right. She pet at his hair. “What happened?” She asked. Regulus chuckled awkwardly.

“A lot has happened in two years, Pans.”

“No.” She insisted. “Something happened recently. The wrackspurts…” She trailed off. “You were dead.”

“About that…” Said Regulus. He took Pandora’s arm and dragged her into the cafe to escape the winter. Once they had settled, their hands wrapped around warm drinks, Regulus started from the beginning.

“The Dark Lord came to me several weeks ago and asked for Kreacher’s assistance in something. He did not tell me what his task was. I ordered Kreacher to do as our Lord bid but to come home when he completed his task.”

We're makin leaps and bounds with this whole sustainability thing since we moved from our apartment a few years ago. Whenever i feel like im not doin enough I lay out all the tiny swaps we've done on the table

we no longer by styrofoam cups and reuse the ones we have

We no longer use plastic plates, we either use glass or compostable ones (and throw the compostable ones in the compost)

Our building has solar panels for electricity

Our soaps are zero/low waste

My mother and I started our loc journey so its much easier to find all-natural, plastic free hair care

I use reusable pads

I don't buy new clothes often if at all, 4 shirts in the last 7 years

3/5 of us eat strictly plant-based bc we're vegan,

We have an indoor hydroponic system growing leafy greens, tomatoes, peppers and fruits, and we bought seeds in bulk. We're planning on swapping rockwool cubes with reusable and compostable hemp fiber cubes

Since the hydroponic system is so bright, and the led lights last for 5 years at a time, we use the living area lights much less, opting for natural sunlight if the hydroponic system is not enough or is off.

We have a bokashi indoor compost bin for food scraps, and an outdoor cold compost bin for the scraps that cant go in the bokashi bin to make our own soil

We started a kitchen garden, and a pollinator/tea garden, and as of 2023 we now have a plum tree, a grapevine, two blackberry bushes, 5 reusable grow bags, 4 big planters and 2 big raised garden beds, lookin forward to fruits and vegetables in the spring, summer, fall and winter. We're planning to buy one more steel raised bed to ensure that we are cycling through what we're growing each year to limit pest-control methods, even neem oil, and planning on purchasing a lot more perennials and native perennials/annuals.

This fall Im gonna purchase a mushroom growing chamber kit for more low waste vegan meat alternatives and to add some healthy mushroom soil to the compost cycle

Our laundry detergent is environmentally safe

Our washing machine is water-efficient

We have a fridge with a water filter for cooking and drinking water

We have reusable grocery store bags

Im gonna try to grow lufas next year to replace our kitchen sponges and steel wool scrubbing pads,

Our property is small, and our neighbors are not as social/gungho about bartering or Co-Op food gardening,

but I'm proud of wat we've done so far, and I can do a lot more, and I plan to do so, so any advice would be welcome

Anon talking about losing friends after reconnecting with their Jewish ancestry I know exactly how you feel.

The second I began converting a whole bunch of people I was friends with started treating me VERY differently. I was being painted as this hyperprivileged white person & even got called a white supremacist colonizer (by a white culturally xtian atheist, unsurprisingly). Even though I’m a mixed race Native.

Needless to say that person ain’t in my life anymore! (they were pretty shitty in general tbh. I eventually found out they were friends with a racist that’d call Black people fascist bootlickers after being called out for appropriating locs. They were also real bad about boundaries.)

I definitely felt isolated after cutting people like them out; especially because I met them through leftist spaces! I thought they were people who’d have my back. But they very much didn’t the second I began converting. It felt like a stab in the back having them turn on me like that.

I'm sorry that you experienced that. Every convert I have met has a story like that of their friends and family rejecting them. Once you convert it's like the wool is taken from over your eyes and you can see the antisemitism in people you never would have before.

Your neshama realized that it was meant for something bigger. It's their loss, and our gain. After however long, your neshama realized it was time to reconnect. Let the Amalakites say what they will — you're home now.

Tommi fursona plush for TommiCat! He was born quite some time ago (2019!) and has been on many adventures. :3 He's even come back for a little refurbish spa day.

The deets:

Standard FuzziPlush teddy-shape, you know the drill. PVC pellets in the feet for balance.

Embroidered eyes, but beans and pawbs are appliqued soft fleece this time! Being so tiny, this was quite a task, lol.

Sits about 9" (22cm) tall. Tommi's tail is extra, extra long like the actual character.

Made from soft polyester fleece in a VIBRANTTTT color.

Them dreadlocks, tho! He is the second plush to feature hand-felted [acrylic blend] wool locs. Beads from my corvid-mode random collection whose origins I've forgotten.

The studdy collar was made by me from some neat trim, fastens with velcro. The cute flower was a found accessory, but very perfectly Tommi.

I make fursona Fuzzies on a commission basis (mostly open only at cons), but it has been quite some time thanks to various factors. I am actually still experimenting with new plush types and shapes, just... not very fast these days.

Strange Man on the Fence

Hyde holstered up his pistol at the shelf in the foyer of his family’s house before taking his keys and heading out. The horses needed feeding and they were nearly out of hay. Been a while since it had gotten so low on stock anyway. He needed to go into the better part of town to get more. As much as they did on this farm, they didn’t bale their own hay.

The cowboy swung his keys on his finger while he trudged out into the November weather. It was cool, the wind trying to nip right through the denim of his jacket. The wool inside didn’t let it. His boots crunched the stiff, yellow grass underfoot. Shoving his hands in his pockets, he looked up at the silvery sky. Novembers in the valley got cold and lonely, that’s for sure. Not too many birds around singing, not too many butterflies like there were in the summer. November changed all the rich, red dirt to dull, copper dust. All the green flowering trees and bushes turned to scraggly limbs and squat tumbleweeds. November was sure enough different, but they were pretty in their own way. At least that’s what he thought.

Hyde could see the beauty in just about anything.

Hyde’s old pickup rattled to a start when he turned the key in the rusty ignition. It’d been a while since he had started this thing. It was the last time he went hauling anything, maybe in the early week of September. He remembered he had to get mulch for the garden. His sister had wanted it anyway. He thought about that time, all three of them lining their garden with pretty red mulch. His sister’s pale freckles got sunburnt that day. She looked as red as that mulch.

When Hyde stepped out of his truck in the barren drive up to his neighbor’s place, he saw someone else standing talking to him at the fence. Olius had never been one for talking, but every now and again, he’d listen. If someone had something important to say, that is. Hyde and Olius were alike that way. Men of little words and of great esteem with who to speak them to.

The world was a vacuum. The wide-open air drowned out any noise before it got too far. The crunching of the clay dirt underfoot, the jingling of the keys on his hip, breaths so deep and warm it looked like Hyde was blowing out the smoke of a cigarette. Everything was lost, swept up in the open range and wild country of Murik Valley. Hyde liked that quiet. That’s what he called peace.

That peace and quiet… it was good for a man like him. He wasn’t hard to please. He could live in this world and all its particularness as long as he could have that peace and quiet.

What he didn’t know is that the man in his neighbors yard was the source of his father’s worry and grief. Grief he didn’t know about yet. Grief that didn’t find him yet.

“Well, well, ain’t it a sight for sore eyes. Been a while since you been up here, boy! Keep on getting�� taller, look just like that daddy of yours!”

Hyde shrugs. It was true. At seventeen, Hyde was bigger and more ‘fatherlike’ than he’d ever been. His hair, which he kept in locs, was getting longer still. That was pretty much the only distinguishing factor he could say set him apart from his father, who sported a shaved head, clean.

His father, the mortuary worker for the whole town, was good friends with Olius. He buried so many of his family free of charge, you wouldn’t understand how he couldn’t be.

“Yes sir. Got any spare bales for me? I done called Zack, but his yield’s been low. Can’t afford to spare anything before the winter.”

The third man, the man Hyde noticed talking to the old farmer, was standing nearby along the fence. He was clad in a dark jacket, leather. He had freckles, head to toe it seemed like. Almost looked like vitiligo, how his freckles was a milky white compared to the dark umber of his skin. He wore some dark washed jeans and black snakeskin boots. Dark sunglasses obscured his gaze, but he was definitely looking at Hyde. Hyde sized him up right back as he waited for Olius to think of his next piece.

Something about this man had seemed so familiar. Not just his freckles, but his aura. Hyde could’ve sworn he had seen him somewhere here before. Somrald, the Valley’s most beautiful gem, was a small enough one that everybody knew everybody. If you didn’t, well you had some catching up to do. There just wasn’t right about him. Hyde would’ve let it go if that man didn’t say anything to him before he left. He was about to get in his truck and take all that baled hay loaded up in the back, and that man wasn’t gonna say a single world to him…

But he did.

“Tell, that sister of yours to keep up with her riding. She’s gettin’ pretty good. Just like that doll Monica.”

That would’ve been fine but…

Last time he checked, his mother didn’t ride horses.

Never did.
